The Rural Food Skillnet is an enterprise led Skillnet providing training to the food and drink sector across Ireland. Established in 2006, the Skillnet hopes to assist those working in the food sector develop innovative ways of becoming competitive through training and further professional development.
The programme also provides a variety of training programmes aimed at those who have not yet established a food business but who are thinking of start up. It is also targeted at well established food businesses looking to improve their skills, diversify or expand. In addition, unemployed participants seeking work and training in the food sector are also eligible to partake in Rural Food Skillnet training programmes.
The Rural Food Skillnet’s is managed through the NEWKD offices in Tralee and to date has offered courses in Farmhouse Cheese Production, Butchery and Small Scale Meat Production, Start Your Own Food Business and Motivation towards self employment.
